How does the Dermapen Microneedling work?
As the Dermapen treats your skin, it creates micro-point punctures in the skin. This is perceived by the body as damage, which stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen and elastin. Your skin reacts to any injury by initiating the healing process. Your skin normally assumes that scars, stretch marks and wrinkles are repaired, but with micro needling treatments, the skin is tricked into repairing itself and to produce more collagen and elastin.

The process of micro needling skin remodeling can go on for months after each Dermapen treatment. Results can be seen within a week to a few months. Your skin naturally heals itself every 45 days, so with microneedling stimulation changes can be dramatic and fast.
 

How quickly are results visible?
Visible results of skin rejuvenation are generally seen after just 6-8 weeks following procedure and improve further over time. A course of 4-6 Dermapen treatments is usually recommended to achieve optimum micro needling results; however, skin improvement is noticeable after just one treatment.
 

Am I suitable for Dermapen treatment?
Dermapen micro needling is suitable for all skin types and treats a range of skin concerns effectively, such as:

• Scarring, particularly acne scars

• Stretch marks

Skin needling is especially effective for ageing concerns such as wrinkles, lines, folds, crow’s feet, scars, acne scars and stretch marks. Because collagen is produced, scars and stretch marks can also improve from treatments especially indented acne scars. Pigmentation issues can be helped including hyper-pigmentation as well as hypo-pigmentation, although pre-treatment assessment and preparation is essential. General lack of skin radiance, skin firmness and compactness are also an indication for skin needling treatments and visible improvements can be seen. 
 

Does the treatment hurt?
Prior to your Dermapen micro needling treatment, anaesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area making the experience comfortable and virtually pain free.
 

What can I expect after my treatment?
After treatment your skin will be red and flushed in appearance, comparable to mild sunburn. You will also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the treated area but this will diminish greatly after a few hours. After 3-5 days, there is barely any evidence that the procedure has taken place. Allow time off if required. Your skin may also appear more dry than normal with mild flakiness for the 1st week.
